Granville E. McKenzie
Rev. Granville McKenzie was ordained in April 2001 and subsequently elected as Senior Pastor of Faith Sanctuary in June 2003, after the passing of his father and mentor, Rev. F. Wesley McKenzie. Prior to that, his roles at the church included Bus Driver, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Director, Music Director, Secretary-Treasurer and Assistant Pastor. He completed a Master of Theology degree at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto, and also has over 20 years of business experience in sales and accounting. Currently he serves on the Global Missions Board of the United Pentecostal Church International, having previously served as the Executive Presbyter for Canada on the Executive and General Boards of the U.P.C.I. Granville and his darling wife Verona have been married for 32 years and have been blessed with two wonderful children, Jonathan and Asher.
Desmond’s introduction to ministry came through teaching Sunday School as a teenager. After completing an Economics degree at York University, his love of teaching led him to a career in corporate training and development that has reached across North America. He has been a key contributor to our assembly in the areas of Christian education, communications and leadership development. He is married to Rhonda, and together they are blessed with three wonderful children, Ryan, Kyle and Kayla.
Assistant Pastor and Acting Director of Life Groups
Melva has been attending Faith Sanctuary for over 25 years and joined the pastoral staff in 2007 as the Minister of Congregational Care. Subsequently, in April 2016, she was appointed as an assistant pastor of the church. She is an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church International and has completed her Master of Divinity degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. Melva has a passion for Prison Evangelism and has led in that ministry for over 10 years. She is currently employed as a chaplain at one of Canada’s largest correctional facilities and also serves in the role of District Chaplain for the UPCI Ontario District. She is happily married to her photography mogul, Walter Lewis.
Media & Communications Director
Born and raised in the GTA, Yannick began his relationship with the Lord Jesus at the age of seven while attending an Ontario District Save Our Children Rally. Soon after, he joined the Children’s Choir and progressed in ministry to become an Assistant Teacher in the Pre-Teen class. In 2011 Yannick completed a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Film, Media and Cultural Studies. Since then he has enjoyed passionately serving in the Communication and Media Department as the Communications Director.
Director of Youth Ministries
Ryan was born in Toronto, Ontario to wonderful parents, Desmond and Rhonda. He attended Georgetown District High School and completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Toronto.
Ryan is the co-founder of Roadmap for Success, an annual event held in communities across the GTA designed to provide mentorship, career workshops, and networking opportunities for youth ages 13-18. Ryan is also an active advisor to the alumni board of INROADS/Toronto – an organization dedicated to preparing talented youth for corporate and community leadership.
At Faith Sanctuary Ryan is dedicated to creating a youth culture where members blend harmoniously in a song of faith, unity and optimism in a way that attracts non-believers to Christ and energizes surrounding communities. His desire is for young people in all walks of life to discover authentic and exciting identities in Christ. He has a passion for helping individuals find ways to use their unique personal gifts for next level ministry and the glory of God. Ultimately, Ryan’s hope is that today’s generation would recognize their crucial importance to God’s Kingdom and use Christian principles to build lives they can enjoy,careers that succeed and relationships that work.
Director of Children's Ministries
Verona became a Christian during her early teen years and has been involved in some area of ministry ever since. Married to Rev. Granville McKenzie for the past 25 years, she has not only supported him faithfully on his ministry journey, she has also dedicated many years of service to Christian education, bus ministry, youth ministry, married ministry, feeding the hungry, business and facilities administration. As the Children’s Ministry Director, her passion is to help in the transformation of children into spiritual champions. Her two children, Jonathan and Asher, are her inspiration.
Director of Adult Ministries
Rev. Chris Simpson has been serving the Lord since 1992 and is a licensed minister with the United Pentecostal Church International. He has a passion for the ministry of the Word of God and to see people develop their full potential in Jesus, to lead thriving, impactful lives. Over the years he has served in the areas of Outreach, Drama, Youth Ministry, Sunday School and Bible study teaching. In the business world, he also possesses over 15 years of experience in client servicing and investment operations which has enabled him to enhance his leadership and relationship building skills. Chris currently serves as the Director of Adult Ministries and is privileged to share life with his amazing wife Keisha and their beautiful children Elianna and Ethan.
Member Services Director
Kevin and his family have been members of Faith Sanctuary for approximately 33 years and he has a loyal and close bond with the assembly. As Director of Member Services, Kevin believes in ministering to the whole individual! With portfolios such as The Health and Wellness Ministry, The Faith Overcomers Group, Faith Sanctuary’s Visitor Reception room etc, the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of our members are met.
Kevin is a certified teacher and youth worker as he has been working with teens since the early 90’s. He has worked as a youth counsellor in various shelters, group homes and school boards across the GTA. He has been teaching in the Peel Region for the last 11 years.
He is now doing extensive work within the Peel Board as he is instrumental in pioneering the first gendered classroom program in the East Peel superintendency. He also played a major part in starting the first Arts and Technology middle school program in Peel. Kevin enjoys spending as much time as he can with his wife Jacquie and two girls Aija-Simone and Tia-Renee.
